Panicky uber drivers in Cebu stopped accepting card bookings

Ever wonder why its so difficult almost impossible to get an uber ride if you booked thru card lately? That's because uber drivers in Cebu have panicked over the announced closure of Uber Asia after its asian operations was purchased by Grab. When the drivers got the notification from uber about the closure, one of the drivers immediately made a comment post in the uber drivers page about rejecting card bookings and accepting only cash as they are no longer sure if uber will still pay them. Certainly uber will still pay the drivers but its difficult to control the actions of a panicky person. Those drivers who are not member of this driver's page will certainly still accept card bookings....

It was earlier announced to the drivers via email by uber that the uber app will stop working on April 8 and drivers who wish to jump over to grab should register with grab asap.

My sympathy goes out to this uber driver. He's driving a large car (minivan), but in his locality there is only one category available - uberX which is also known as uber economy - thus he's receiving the same pay as with those driving with smaller engines, so here's what he did: he used the uber-issued trash can as tip box - wrote a special note on it...

Road killings on the rise

It's s easy to find news in the Philippines nowadays- just take a night drive and you can be sure to meet news in the streets from motorcycle accidents to murders... This lady, identified as Luz Benzi, is a manager of a local resort here in Mactan Island Philippines. She crossed the street near her home in Babag 2 Lapu-lapu when she was shot once from a distance and then followed by another 2 close shots as if to make sure she's done with. The shooter was on a motorcycle without a mask while his driver was wearing a helmet. Though they took her bag after the shooting, the locals suspect it may not be a simple robbery as the victim had already received prior threats allegedly from the relatives of her ex-husband who is a retired police man. As of this writing, there are still no clear details regarding the motive of this murder...

Road impediments causing accidents...

There's a lot of road impediments in this country and despite most of them causing accidents even death to poor motorists, our traffic authorities still continue to use them...

Last night, this biker was knocked unconscious after hitting a road sign obscurely placed in the middle of the road in front of 711 in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

The biker's left ring finger was broken and the bone came out...

And it's all because of this...

Sure the driver should have been more careful, defensive, etc, but if you're not very familiar of the road, then impediments like that could get you, especially the poor motorcycle guys...

Since our traffic authorities insist on theses obscure road impediments, all we can do is to be extra careful, and to be always prayerful...

And it stays there... despite the PAINS it caused...

Accidents happen when you least expect it. Even if you are the most careful driver on the road, you still need to protect yourself from the mistakes of other drivers. A single mistake on the road may cost the life of others, if not, your own...

Two bikers pay the price for another's mistake. The two crashed when a taxi driver suddenly made a u-turn in front of La Tondena Distillers in Mandaue City...

The taxi driver wasn't so keen on what's behind him on the road. The sudden attempt for a u-turn cost someone else a hospital vacation... Luckily, both bikers only sustained scratches and minor bruises, but the back riding passenger of one of the motorcycles received head injuries and will have to stay at the hospital for a few days at least...

Both motorcycle drivers were very lucky...

The accident caused a traffic jam...

Despite the head injuries, he sustained, I'd say he's still lucky to have survived this high speed accident...

The not-so-lucky motorcycle back riding passenger is given the first aid treatment before being taken to the nearby hospital...

I'd say the best protection we can give ourselves is a prayer asking God for protection wherever we go or whatever we do...

No matter how good a rider or driver you are, accidents happen, so it's best to say a little prayer for protection wherever we go... Nothing beats a good prayer...
