Hi Otto...
Thanks for sharing that train trip. It was like really travelling in Germany by train, taking the front seat--which was the operator's seat. We took the trip after dinner. My wife liked it so much, so did my son and me. We were able to see the country side of Germany--very beautiful.
We've never done much travelling lately--only within Cebu City due to economic constraints. But we are still positive; someday we could go out of our City.
Thanks for taking the bow for my wife. Thanks for noticing that my family is well and active. Yes I do have a big family because I am still trying to support my parents as much as I could.
Yes I've already seen the photo in your blog, but the "getting bald" aspect was not very evident yet.
I am not a full business man yet. But this is my goal within the few months. I am still doing 9 hour shifts (5 days a week) in a call center. I take billing calls for a British Telecoms Company.
With some friends, we are setting up a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) team, so far we have just recently completed everything needed for doing a BPO but we are still waiting for clients. We've got no serious clients yet, only inquiries. Since most of us come from the call centers, we know how to run one, and where to get competitive prices for equipments.
Your work before is interesting. It is a very in-demand skill, since the world now, or at least from where I am, everything is so commercialized. My city, Cebu City, or the Philippines in general, is so commercialized yet, the greater majority of the people here are still very poor, including my self. This is because the wages are very low and the government is not planning to make changes. Any businessman here, can become really rich fast because of the cheap labor culture.
Well, as you may know, we really don't have serious products, apart from our people working everywhere abroad, we only have a relatively strong service-based industry--such as the call centers or the BPOs. But sadly, European and American clients only come to our country because of the cheap labor. Our people's competence only comes as a bonus.
English is everything here in the Philippines. It is taught starting kindergarten. Without English, we would have been so much poorer as a country....
Sincerely,
Cirilo P. Cena

Hello, Cirilo!
Thank you for your mail and for all your patience!
Yes, I’ve got several photos of your family. They look kind and healthy all together, and I can see that they are very active. Don’t forget to pass my greetings on to them and tell your wife that I take a bow for her.
As I don’t have a family, I don’t really have something in return for you, aside from some annoying pictures of a guy who slowly gets bald. But then again, as you already watched my blog, you will have found the photo of me which I posted there.
So you are a business man with a big and happy family! Besides your family and your work, your circle of friends, and the round table of Mr. Kirby’s institute – you are still interested in a guy with a farmer’s mindset! Someone who doesn’t want to have a facebook account. But I don’t write snail-mails anymore, no.
I was working in different advertising agencies during the past twenty-five years. I’m a signmaker. I wrap and letter cars and vans, and I’m creating flyers and brochures.
English is not used in daily life in Germany, not even in business. I do only use it when I’m surfing on the web. I wonder whether this is different in the Philippines.
Greetings

P.S. If you can take some time off on sunday and enjoy a ride on a train on a far off country track near to my home town, you might try this: (click)
