Online Marketing Coaching Service for Filipinos Series: How to Market your Brand or your Service Online at Zero Cost

The popularity of the internet and of the social networking sites such as Facebook has changed the way businesses reach out to customers or clients. The days of long commercial marathons on TV is still present but businesses and service companies nowadays are trying to reach out to the customers who spends more time in Facebook than on watching TV. The cost of buying a commercial banner in popular sites like Facebook may be within the budget of most big brands but still, it is always better to find a way to market online at the least cost, if not zero cost. Finding a way to reach your target audience online at zero cost would level the playing field for all businesses and service companies in today's tough and competitive marketing scene. Most companies and businesses have realized that building a website is not a viable marketing tool at all. After you spend a considerable amount of money on an ordinary website, you will find that nobody visits the site until you advertise the existence of such website. So your website is not a marketing tool at all. Most websites built by businesses today are not intended for marketing, but is intended as an order-taking mechanism, such as in an airline's website where you can book or purchase a ticket online, or an information pulpit where you can blast corporate news or other information.

So, here are a few ways to blast your brand or your service online at zero cost.

Social Media Marketing
There are a lot of social networking sites but only Facebook stands out. You've seen that most brands encourage their audience to visit their Facebook page and to hit the "like" button. But after a customer does this, the Facebook page just do not communicate back to the person anymore. It is better for you to create an actual profile and a group page of your brand or service and invite as much friends as possible. You may reach the 5000 limit for the profile you created, but you will not be limited in inviting people to the group profile that you've created. You've seen how groups in Facebook notifies you for new posts, so you can always send interesting updates from your blog to your Facebook profile or group. In this way, everyone in your friends list or group list will get notified of the new interesting information you've posted in your blog. Another technique is to accept as much group invitations as possible. Being in a big group gives you a chance to share what you have and all of the members in the group gets your updates. So if you have a website with little visitors, you can complement it by creating a Facebook profile or group. Another good way to attract viewers to your profile or group is by making good comments on people's posts or hitting the like button on their comments or status, but this can take a lot of time.

Targeted blogging
Why build a costly, yet static website when you can create a lively blog about your brand or service for free? In your blog, you can post interesting data or research about a certain aspect of your product or service. A pizza brand can write about the benefits of cheese and bell peppers, thus enticing people to visit the pizza house. A fitness gym promoting its service online can write a blog about a certain research showing the benefits of exercise to maintaining a healthy well-being. Everyone is scared of not being healthy, and fear always works miracles in any marketing campaign. Your blog can very well supplement your existing website by regularly posting interesting articles related to your service or brand. Click here for a sample blog site.

Email Marketing
If you have ample budget, a good email marketing model is by using an auto-responder. The service of an auto-responder can totally automate your marketing and sales campaign by integrating a code to your website that brings up a dialog box that asks for your visitors' email address. Once the email is collected, the auto-responder sends out scheduled preloaded messages to the visitor's email. The message could be a product update or sales follow up that contains a direct link to the sales page. An auto-responder could be costly to the small business owner. A good, yet totally free alternative to the commercial auto-responder is Google's Feed Burner. You can attach Feed Burner's code in your blog so your visitor/customer gets updates from you whenever you have an article --so they are always reminded of your brand or service. You can also invite your customer's to join your yahoo or google groups so they regularly receive updates from your brand or service
